Achievement of goals is one of the most meaningful activities that humans engage in.
However, the question is: Will such goal achievement necessarily give you the intrinsic satisfaction you would like to experience in life?
Do you ever achieve goals that still leave you with a sense of emptiness when you should be celebrating instead?
The onus of happiness in life depends partly upon your definition of Life Success.
You may be rushing to achieve goals that give you temporary and instant gratification. But deep inside these may not provide you with meaning and satisfaction.
You could achieve a lot of material success but you might still feel empty inside.
So what will give you Meaningful Achievements? What is True Life Success?
Again this depends on your meaning of True life Success.
But there is one definite truth about your ability to create Meaningful Goals in life.
And the Secret lies in discovering your Core Values.
The moment you identify your Core Values and your Life Purpose is the moment you grab the Key that will unlock the secret to meaningful goals. Unless you are very clear about your Core Values, your True Essence and your Mission in life, your goals may remain superficial and happiness may elude you.
Happiness is that state of consciousness which proceeds from the achievement of one's values - Ayn Rand.
That's why you need to invest some time in doing a Self-Help Program or a Values Clarification Exercise that taps into your intuition and helps you to discover your Core Values in a structured way. And that's why it's also important that once you discover your Core Values, you align your daily goals constantly to them.
I meet a lot of people who's jaw drops like a cash register when you ask them what their Core Values are. The blank stares I get just confirm to me immediately where that feeling of 'emptiness' is coming from. There is no way you can achieve meaningful goals unless you get clear about your Values and Life Purpose.
So make sure you give yourself the time and privilege of exploring your Core Values in a structured way. Once you do so, identify what goals you are chasing in life and ask yourself whether they reflect your Values.
If not, make sure you shift your focus from superficial goals to achievements that are aligned to your Core Values. Goals that help to manifest your inner Essence and which provide you with intrinsic and long-term happiness.
So before you start opening your Diary to fill in the To Do list make sure you have worked on identifying your 10 Core Values - and then align your actions to these Big Rocks in your life.
