The Characteristics of a Good and Effective Leader

When you are a leader of any organizations, companies or small groups, you must be good. You must possess the traits that an effective leader possesses. Your members would love to choose a leader who is effective for the position given. Just like when you choose a self defense device for instance, the stun gun effectiveness is a very important factor for you to really buy the product. If it is not good for you, you would rather choose and go for other options. That is why to have a healthy relationship with your members you must have the following characteristics.

First of all as a leader, you must be a good servant. You must also know how to serve your members and not to dictate everything. You must listen to what your subordinates will have to say when it comes to your plans and goals for your organization. Try to pay attention to your members and provide them with what they want if it is good for the group. Do not be self centered and do not think that you are the leader you are like a god that needs to be praised and served always. An effective leader does not think that way.

Secondly, you have to be in control. If you are under the situation that there are conflicts within your group, take command and settle things properly. You can listen to both sides and then come up with the final decision. You are still the one who will end and clear things up. Let them know like you have a stun baton in hand, in control and firm in making your decisions.

In addition you must be fair in giving rewards and punishments. If you think that a person needs to be rewarded for a job well done then go on and credit him or her for all the efforts made. This will motivate the person involved to do even better and also will make others determined to try their best to be able to get an honorable reward too. Moreover, if there are persons who are tardy at work or does not perform well, then call the attention of the person and inform him or her of the policies of the group or company and make him understand the consequences of actions made.

Lastly, if you are a leader, you must be willing to accept that you can make mistakes at times and that you are willing to make up for what you have done. You must also be open that you still have room for improvement that is why you have to join leadership seminars and other trainings that will develop your skills of being an effective leader.

These are just few of the characteristics that a person must possess to have effective leadership. You must know how to be a servant, a good listener, be in control, fair and most of all open to any change within yourself. If you have the following qualities, then you can really say that you are a good leader.
