Conquer Your Fear of Failure

"Change your life by doing what you love and the money will come" is a slogan we have all heard. How can something which sounds so easy be so hard? Perhaps it's not as hard as we think.

The hardest part of changing your life is making the conscious decision to begin.

The fear of failing is what stops most people from making the conscious decision to change their life. Often when important decisions are to be made, you base your decisions upon your past experiences.

Past experiences can be good or bad but it is human nature to view these past experiences as negative.

It is easy to believe that you are not successful today because of your past experiences. But, when you have these types of negative thoughts, it is common to exaggerate them in your mind. You turn them into "only if..." statements and you have thousands of these statements floating around in your head. You begin to blame everything and anything for your past failures.

These exaggerated experiences are stored in your brain and used every time you have a great idea about how to change your life. It is these exaggerated past experiences which cause your fear of failure. They are what stop you from making your life better.

What you need to realize is that failure is okay. Failure is actually a great teacher of success; it gives you the learning experiences you need in life. As Edison said" I didn't fail 1000 times; I simply found 1000 things that didn't work."

When you cannot make the conscious decision to change your life, you live in an unhappy comfort zone. Within your comfort zone are the exaggerated excuses you live by, which constantly multiply.

So how do you get yourself out of the gutter and focused on life? You need to realize that you have the potential to become successful. Review your past experiences. Review the good and the bad. Use the bad experiences as learning experiences.

Past: you had a successful business, but it was robbed and ransacked. You didn't have enough insurance to cover the damages. You soon went broke.
Present: you do not start another business because you are afraid of another disaster happening and ruining you again.
Reality: because of your past experience and the knowledge you gained from it, you can choose to take the proper precautions to ensure your success.
It is diligence, focus, and preparation which can make you successful. You must have the diligence to pick yourself up after you fall and follow through with your plans. You must prepare for your future by understanding your past experiences. You must stay focused to achieve your goals and recognize any opportunities around you.

You will never forget your past. Life is, was, and always will be full of ups and downs. It is how you choose to view these ups and downs which can determine your success.
