Symptoms of a Low Self Esteem

We all have at some stage of our lives found ourselves in a place that we would rather not be. It creates a feeling of low self esteem and it can be sometimes very difficult to know how to get out of it. This can be caused by many different events or experiences that make us begin to feel this way, whether we like it or not and can be a harsh part of life.

Some of us are prone to the emotions of regular feeling a sense of low self esteem. If this is the case, it can be triggered by the most simple and insignificant things. It is recognising the symptoms of a low self esteem that will ultimately begin the cycle of turning things around and treating the trivialities of life as they should be treated and not being something that is going to distress you to the point of making you feel so low over something and nothing.

Some of the symptoms of a low self esteem could originate from early childhood and might be an illusion that was created by your imagination. What I mean by this is people can be very cruel and especially children. Others can try and compensate for their own misgivings and lack of confidence by looking for an easy target. That easy target could be you!

They look for weaknesses or frailties in people and use them to make themselves look big without ever thinking what it could do to the other person. This can have a long-lasting effect, maybe for even a lifetime. Depending how strong our personality and character is, it can condition a mindset within us that makes us feel conscious of these small flaws from this day on and that leads us to a definite lack of self esteem.

To name but a few of the symptoms of a low self esteem is being uncomfortable around groups of people, having a weight loss and eating disorder problem, unable to interact when in conversation with other people, (including the opposite sex) and basically not liking what you see when you look in the mirror.

These are just a few of the common problems that lead to a low self esteem and can be reversed with effort from yourself and with the help of others. The most important thing to recognise though is only you can make that change within yourself. You are not on your own any more! There are many resources to turn to and especially with the advent of the internet, the help needed is no longer a problem.
