Did you know that you often set your goals by what you think you can accomplish? If you don't think this is true, why did you set that goal to begin with?
Many people say that because of circumstances, they cannot accomplish this or that. They need to realize that their circumstances are not their destiny, they are simply their past.
Look at the circumstances that you are facing right now. Did you know that you are bigger than those circumstances? Stop and think about it for a minute.
What goals would you set if you were sure you could do it without messing up? Don't look at what you know you can do, if you were capable what would you do?
Michelangelo made the statement that for most of us, our problem is not that we set a goal we can't achieve, but that we set our goals so low we achieve nothing anyway. He is simply stating what we already stated, we set goals we know we can reach.
So, what have we accomplished if we reach a small goal that we knew we were capable of reaching any how? Probably less than we were capable of doing.
Stop and think a minute. What are you accomplishing if you only set goals you know you can reach? If you make a goal to reach the sun and you hit the moon instead, you still have accomplished great things. Because you set your goal at a place you weren't sure you could reach, it stretched you, and you now have an even greater chance of reaching the sun.
If we set a goal and we have success, maybe not the success that we were anticipating, we have still had success. We are more likely to try again on something equally or more productive. Set great goals and you will accomplish great things.
